After 9 years on hiatus, Rakim is back with a new track. Listing as being produced by DJ Kid Capri, one of hiphop’s legends. Drop what you think in the comments.
Everyone has a twitter account now, but just because they have one doesn’t mean you should be following
it. These artists give you an actual inside look at their lives, their personalities, and of course the music.
Remember to follow these guys, and always, follow @beatstatus too!
Rhymefest – Rhymefest is definitely one of the most entertaining people on Twitter. From engaging convo’s with the fans to some of the craziest polls ever. Rhymefest is a MUST-FOLLOW regardless of what kind of music you’re into.
QuestLove – The hardest working man in Hip-Hop, from my own backyard to yours, Philly’s own QuestLove.
JustBlaze (TheMegatronDon) – It’s Just Blaze, so you know it’s going to be entertaining. Definitely some of the most random stuff coming from this guy.
JoeBudden (mousebudden) – Everything from Bowel Movements to Studio Sessions. This current Slaughterhouse member definitely provides an “inside look” at his life…maybe too inside sometimes.
BlackMilk – Good source of news from the road, and the life of Black Milk. Definitely cool to get an inside look of a world tour.
Illmind (IllmindProducer) – This world renowned producer/teacher/all-around good guy has been laying it down for years on the beats. He definitely keeps his twitter up to date with great links and news on his day.
Skyzoo (TheRealSkyzoo) – One of the hottest artists to come out in the past few years keeps it insanely real on Twitter. From public beef to reaching out for help on projects, he makes a follow worthwhile.
Noreaga – Lefrak’s own Superthug is on twitter. Just today he had a whole convo about how a 9-5 is keeping it real. Good stuff from Nore.
MistahFAB – Gotta give some attention out to the Bay. Mistah F.A.B. is one of the biggest artists in the bay, and keeps his Twitter moving. Definitely gives love to his fans.
Oddisee – One of my favorite producers out there, most likely one of your favorites too if you’re reading a blog like this. He definitely takes the time to talk with people on Twitter since that’s what it’s all about. Definitely follow Oddisee.
That’s it for now. Go follow all these people, Retweet this post too!
This one is amazing right here. Everyone knows Illmind is crazy on the beats, but the lineup for this project is insane. Common, Scarface, Ed OG, Youg Buck and many many more. Enough talk, just get it and listen.

The Blaps, Rhymes & Life compilation series continues, as the blapmaster Illmind and Dub MD bring you Volume 3 as yet another exclusive free download. Blaps, Rhymes & Life Vol. 3 is jam packed full of more classic !llmind production as he showcases his music with a mix of mainstream and underground artists, in this volume he collaborates with mainstream artists like 50 Cent, Scarface, Young Buck, and Marsha from Floetry, and keeps the balance with underground artists and rising stars such as Termanology, Wale, D-Black, Skyzoo and Torae to name a few. Also included is an official remake of 88 Keys’ single “Stay Up!” featuring Alchemist, Evidence and 88 Keys himself on the rhymes. Master Shake from Adult Swim’s hit TV show Aqua Teen Hunger Force also makes an appearance!
Wale is one of the best newcomers to the game. He more or less made his major debut on the most recent project from The Roots, and quickly become an underground favorite. For this free mixtape he teams up with another underground legend in the form of super-producer 9th Wonder. This combo is any backpackers dream combo, but the idea of the project “FEATURES” makes it something worth checking out for even the most hardcore street music fans.
Features include everyone from Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Royce da 5′9″, Skyzoo, Joe Budden, Talib Kweli and more.
Just go get it, probably one of the better free mixtapes you’ll ever find…or paid mixtapes for that matter.
Go download it from Zshare
If the link goes down, check out Wale’s Site for new link and for more Wale music (including a lot more free downloads!)

Another Free Mixtape Friday release for you. This one comes from the VERY talented, and often overlooked, Trey Songz. Obviously this is a little bit different than the usual hardcore hip-hop we have on it, but Trey Songz brings some of the best hip-hop esque R&B out. Go grab this one, after all…it’s free!
It’s 50. Yeah he has his ups and downs, some downs more than ups lately, but when it’s free, it’s worth giving 50 a shot. This is thing has got some BANGERS for real. I’d much rather listen to one of 50 cents mixtapes before I listen to one of 50’s albums anyday. This is more like “Get Rich or Die Tryin” 50 than the newer over-produced junk.
